Melon Hair Lounge was established in 2013 after an extensive renovation to the old Taboo Salon. A hair salon has existed in this location and has been a staple of the community for over 40 years! Carrying on the tradition of providing excellent service to clients from all walks of life Melon Hair Lounge has flourished ever since. In 2022 the Melon Boutique was added to the front of the store for that added little touch of convivence for those looking for a complete make over!
Kelsey started doing hair for weddings and prom, and extensions when she was 12. Her passion to make people look beautiful led her to get educated in hair an esthetics in 2006. Since then she has worked at various salons gaining invaluable experience and technique from all her mentors along the way. In March of 2025 Kelsey purchased Melon Hair Lounge, which has been a life long dream of hers.
Joy has enjoyed doing hair since high school and when she was graduating her friends and family told her she should be a professional hairdresser. After training in Vancouver, years of hair shows, competitions and platform work she still can’t get her playful hands out of the new and latest styles. Whether it’s professional, fun or a classic looks Joy has the experience to do it all!
Jeremiah is twospirited indigenous from the Lil’wat Nation. He moved to Vancouver seeking education in fashion design, tourism and counselling but ultimately settled on hair receiving his advanced training at Suki’s International. After 20 years of hair in Vancouver he relocated to Kamloops in 2018. He looks forward to welcoming you into the salon for your next appointment!
Jayme has always had a passion for hair. A graduate of Interior Academy, she now works her dream job and. specializes in colours and blondes. She loves the creativity and connection that comes with transforming her clients’ looks. From doing friends’ and family members’ hair in high school to now working behind the chair, her journey has always been driven by a genuine love for the craft.
Jenna is a talented hairstylist with a lifelong passion for all things hair. Growing up in a family of hairdressers, she’s been immersed in the beauty world for as long as she can remember. A graduate of Interior Academy, Jenna combines professional training with a natural eye for style. She’s all about creating looks that leave you feeling confident, refreshed, and completely yourself.
